Looks okay to me - Nothing to complain about so far. Guess we won't know much till we see gameplay in action. Otherwise I really can't say much regarding these images.

Recording your matches doesn't mean it'll be video. It may just be an orthographic map display with moving icons and giant red Xs where people get fragged.

I doubt that very much.

But I bet you are right...it won't be video. What it'll likely be is a record of each object/player's movements on a map at any given time. Then this will be played back through the game engine.

It is sorta like recording the notes of a song instead of recording the entire song itself. Starsiege: Tribes back in 1999 did it this way...the game engine would keep record of a game and you could play it back through it.

Tell me, Jaime, what was wrong with pistols as spawn weapons? It sure will take some major changes to the AR to make it capable of breaking a sniper spawn camp... Christ...

Hopefully, that's what they meant by this:

Generally, though, since they were out in the open, it was easy enough for one of use to hit them with AR fire and knock them out of scope...

I'm not going to vouch for them here, but it has always sounded to me like the new Assault Rifle will have some sort of single-fire option. With the BR55 apparently returning in full force, I'm not certain this is accurate. We can tell that the Assault Rifle is much more powerful (I'm guessing accurate is what they really meant), than it's Halo: Combat Evolved counterpart.

Also, about the question of water in High Ground, yeah, it's a little strange that we don't actually get a shot of the beach. Since we only see three angles roughly, I'm guessing that the beach and water areas are not too far off (take a quick right down the hill on the otherside of the base wall - I don't believe the fence section, the hills beyond or the greenery are meant for anything other than backdrop). Another thing found in the previous humpday which makes me think they were playing on High Ground is the reference to them by-in-large playing where there was a lot of mid-range combat with some long-range sprinkled in. This doesn't appear to be Valhalla, which as far as I can tell, has a great deal of really amazing long-range combat.

God I love Valhalla's look. And what a friggin cool name...Now, I'm actually hoping we get all new maps this first time around and then, possibly during an alternate map pack, we get some old favorites.

Voc, Remember that awesome thread you created on Nightly.net for Halo 2? You had all relevant data known about Halo 2 neatly categorized with images. You had all the breaking stuff that few people knew about etc. I was wondering if perhaps you could start that thread for Halo 3. Today's info would be a great place to start. If you do, make sure you leave a lot of room for pics and additional content. You da man.

I hate to be the negative one here, but...

Do you remember how bad the Bungie devs are at playing H2? I mean if you ever have seen videos of them they are just abysmal. I guess my point is...what weapons they are finding effective probably won't be effective at all for good players, unless they are doing HEAVY play-testing this time around by a lot of different people.

If they had done it in Halo 2, I don't think there is any way the brute shot or needler get into the game as pathetic as they were.

I also am a bit concerened that despite there being so many new weapons, many of them will be used very little. The carbine in Halo 2 for example...a decent weapon but it is hardly ever used.

I just really hope Bungie suprises me here. I want to get excited about all this info but I'm not sure I have faith that Bungie will deliver an H1-quality experience over the made-for-the-masses experience of H2.

The 'special use' for the x button is very interesting. That is prime real-estate on the controller...must be something that will be used frequently. A serious contender would be some type of movement option. Sprinting or evasive cover/rolls? Eh, not sure that would fit well with Halo's action, but it is the current flavor of the month.

So as you guys can imagine I'm in a dream right now. It was hell to be at work today for 11 hours knowing I couldn't see anything about these scans. I'm gonna sleep really good tonight.

Cool. So that head they sculpted for the CE/LE is going to make it.

Yeah Brash, you were the first person I thought of when I saw this. Who was it that you knew again that went to Bungie for this project. I had also heard somewhere that this plan for the helmet was originally thought of for H2 but never made it.

I'm betting that the helmet version will be right around $100. I'd be tempted to buy it, not sure if I will, though.

One of my sculpting teachers who no longer works in the Institute is employed with Atomic Monkey.

These guys worked on the large scale and smaller scaled sculptures for Halo 2's release. You can see one of those bigger ones in Bungie studios through one of their tours. The smaller ones were in all the GameStops and EB Games. Obviously, they work with a number of respected licenses.

When he was talking with a few of us, he said that the large sculpted Master Chief head was going to be introduced as part of a Collectors Edition for Halo 2, but when it was presented, Bungie said it was too big and "could you make it smaller".

He told us they were asked to do a new one, and there are new action figures in the works too.
"It's like they're trying to make it some big secret, but we all know they're working on the next Halo. So, it's kinda dumb."

Pictures I took in my tour:

These guys are pro. I wish I had his email so I could press some questions.

EDIT: Scrap that, does anyone have that image I uploaded a long time ago of the MC head?

Here's the thread you started... No pic to be found, at least with the terms I searched...

Some more scan details:
-page 3's ATV picture features a guy being launched out of the man cannon
-page 5's ATV picture features a silhouette that looks deliciously like a Pelican

That thread was actually created by a guy named Brock Sampson Kills. Good looking kid, but I haven't seen him in forever. Blaze, what's the progress on this buddy? I could do it, but Blaze has a talent for gathering and disclosing information in an orderly fashion, so I'm waiting for a word back from him about the attempt.

As far as this information. By tonight, you're going to see one of the largest H3DA articles ever, which will cover, in great detail, everything that was disclosed in the Swedish gaming mag. I'll be pretty busy next week and in the week's following on H3DA thanks to the EGM leak we'll be getting next week and 1UP.com's comprehensive review of their trip and what they saw:

Did any of you guys notice the two Hog variants in the scans?

The first is the chain-gun Hog we know and love. What is the second? Is it the Gauss? I doubt it, the Gauss does not use an ammo belt, it is energy based. Is this some kind of grenade-launcher Hog? Note how big the ammo in the belt is. It doesn't look like regular bullets to me.

Edit:

Actually, is it just a chain-gun Hog that has taken damage and the turret armor plates fell off? Yep, I think this is the case.

Not sure what you mean my "energy based" but the Guass cannon doesn't fire energy like Covenant weapons, bu magnetically accellerated pieced of metal... From the angle of the pic, it does look slightly different...but I'm not sure

My bad. I see what you are saying. I looked at the Hog in Halo 2. I was right in saying it didn't use an ammo belt but I didnlt realize that it is apparently drum fed rounds to shoot.

They do look like different variants, but they're not. They're both light anti-aircraft guns, the beloved LAAG Hog. One has undergone a great deal of damage and therefore is missing both the right and the left shroud.

I'm surprised I haven't seen a GIF of a Spartan getting flung from the Man Cannon yet:

What are the two weapons in that pic? Looks like a BR and a shotgun to me. EDIT: It also looks like there will be at least two Man Cannons on each base. One in the center facing forward, and two more flanking it.

You're right Cuse, I think I see the blade on the end of it. Also, it's looking like three Man Cannons per base acconding to that picture.
