Treyarch aims to "explore the darkest corners of WWII," giving the military shooter more of a survival horror flavor by "tackling darker themes" and pitting players against a "new, seemingly alien fighting force."

"This is a scarier Call of Duty than we've ever seen," Treyarch head Mark Lamir says

"We figured out early that the Imperial Japanese fought in a different way that was full of suspense," creative lead Rich Farrelly tells OXM. "From that point we started to skew the game in that direction."

The game is supposed to support 4-Player online Co-op.

"new, seemingly alien fighting force."

You?re joking.... Right? But we know that World War II was just roses and rainbows on the inside except for those super hardcore "dark edges" where people I think shot bullets at each other to kill each other.

Also, what else left is there to say? Treyarch. You know this one will suck. People are just waiting for Call of Duty 6.

Technically it's not called Call of Duty 5, so technically this one doesn't count.

By the way, here's what this masterpiece looks like.

Are they using the same engine that they used in CoD 4? Looks like it.

So let me guess, we play the game through the perspective of: "Soldier 1" - Captured by the Japanese, forced on the Baton Death March. Similar to the mission in CoD4 where you play as the overthrown president of "Arab-desert country 00045272". This is the "Dark and Gritty" portion of the game. "Soldier 2" - This soldier does the fighting/regular CoD fanfare. "Soldier 3" - This soldier plays in a Pearl Harbor mission. Having a Pacific campaign without a Pearl Harbor mission is like having a European campaign without a "D-Day" mission. Then towards the end of the game "Soldier 2" saves "Soldier 1" during the raids on Japanese POW camps. The end.

That would actually be pretty fun, as long as the Japanese are done right.

Bataan Death March. Bataan. There's a difference.

I did a whole damn project on the Bataan Death March. Boring as hell. The liberation of the Japanese concentration camps was pretty awesome though. Yay for covert raids!

Yes, the men that starved to death or were otherwise murdered also thought it was pretty damn boring.

No offense was meant, Jeez.

I mean, I had to write a whole report about how they walked without food and under constant fear that the Japanese would kill them. They were all sick and didn't think they would ever return home. I know its terrible and gruesome, but its not the best of research topics.

Sad thing was, they all thought that reinforcements were coming, so that's why they stayed in Bataan and fought for so long. They were waiting for the reinforcements that would never come.

Buy for me. I love WWII. Can't get enough. And it actually looks like it could be pretty good.

That looked completely badass. I'm gonna miss fighting in the streets of European cities, but fighting the blasted WWII era Japanese will be sweet.

Flamethrower and ambushes ftw.

While simulating the murder of other human beings can be fun for the whole family, let us all try to keep the racial epithets to a minimum.
