Release: Fall 2008
Platform: Xbox 360, PS3, PC

Runs on COD 4 Engine!!

The upcoming 007 game just got an ammo clip of good news.* Quantum of Solace, currently in development at Treyarch, is running on the Call of Duty 4 game engine and due out this Fall alongside the movie. "We look forward to launching Bond: Quantum of Solace in Q3 concurrent with movie. This game uses the Call of Duty 4 engine and technology to bring Bond games to a new level," said Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith in a conference call yesterday (36:20 mark).

Why does this excite us? Simply put: COD4 is one of the best multiplayer experiences currently available on consoles, and it gives us hope that this version will be able recapture the magic we felt when we first tried split-screen Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64. It also gives us an idea as to what platforms we can expect to see the game on -- likely Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and perhaps PC. Quantum of Solace, the film, is releasing October 31 in the UK, November 7 in North America.

It should be released on the original Goldeneye engine.

It should be released on the original Goldeneye engine.

Why?

Even if they use the Call of Duty 4 engine doesn't mean it'll have the same quality gunplay we have in well...Call of Duty 4. And to be honest, movie games almost always suck anyway.

Your reasoning for wanting it on the older engine is because you want another Goldeneye to happen, which it's not. Go back and play the game now and tell me if you think it's good. The game was only good for it's time, and I don't think we'll ever see something as creative from this franchise to have something as popular as Goldeneye was. Especially since they are limiting themselves to the timeframe and story elements of said movie.

Really? Where did I say that? Where did I say I even liked Goldeneye when it first came out?

I think Seduced was making joke.

Oh my god.

My tag has been Self Induced when a much better one has been sitting in front of me all this time

What other reason could you possibly want it on there for then?

I noticed they had a demo out for this on fileplanet, but did they release something for 360? If they did, can I get some opinions?

I played the PC demo on my shitballs laptop. Graphics were on ghetto-low, but the game lasted for about three minutes of sort-of-want-fun.

I'll have it sometime this week from GameFly.
The reviews seemed decent enough for a couple day rental, to play through the single player.

I rented it a while ago. It's average for a game based on a movie. Worth only a rental.

Agree.
I've only played through the single player, I don't even know if I'll bother with the mp.
Coming from Treyarch and the CoD4 engine, the graphics are flatly average, and in some cases unimpressive. (Check out the boats in boathouse the first level.)
The game felt similar to all the past Bond games from EA after Goldeneye, although this would be the best.
Very linear, QTEs, cover system ala Rainbow Six Vegas, control setup similar to Call of Duty.
Thank God there weren't any trial & error vehicle levels in this Bond.
500-600 fairly easy achievement points for a single 007 playthrough.
Rental.
