Apparently, there is a new member rank on the Bungie.net forums called "Superintendent." All of the profiles that belong to it don't have names, just a collection of "|||||||||"s and a shared profile picture that differs in the eyes.

I've pulled all of my information from the B.net thread on this subject.

It looks like six have been discovered so far.

And one that doesn't have the similiar profile picture (just the default pic), but has the same motto as the rest:

Their profiles all say "Keep it clean!"

One of them has three forum posts.

In addition to that, May 16's Weekly Update had a picture of Frank in which he was wearing a shirt that has one of the profile pictures on it; the profile picture of the one that has the three forum posts.

Also, a Bungie webcam picture shows a sign on the wall that has the same picture.

This could be nothing, or it could a developing ARG. The interesting thing, to me, is that Bungie has had t-shirts of it printed up.

They are probly just like moderators, there to clean up bad posts and such. But its odd that they post like that and have no names. I dunno, could have something to so with the Smuggler thing in the Weekly update.

Considering Frank has a shirt with it, and they post in green text and don't have names, I think it is probably something more than just new moderators. I think it probably has to do with Bungie's next project. Like Self said, only time will tell.

Given the fact they have no names and a plunger, it's quite obvious that Bungie is making a Mario remake.

Seriously though, I'm sure they are just moderators. Frank also had a shirt that said ODST; did we get a game where we play as an ODST? I think you?re just over analyzing.

Edit: Also, Superintendent? Sounds an awful lot like school faculty, definitely some form of moderator.

Ditto on the overanalysis. I think this is just Bungie shenanigans for moderation and messing with people. After all, these guys LOVE messing with us.

I put the names into an ascii to decimal converter looking for anything interesting. All of the users actually have different names, maybe someone has a better eye for patterns than me.

In your order of posting:

I think I changed my mind about this Superintendent business. There does seem to be more going on here and we should keep an eye on them. Of course, there is always a chance this could end up being nothing so perhaps we should take any findings with a grain of salt.

The Superintendent's three posts are (in order in which he posted them):
KEEP IT CLEAN!
BE A HERO! REPORT VIOLATORS
LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE CROSSING

The times were:
05.29.2008 5:44 PM PDT
05.29.2008 6:12 PM PDT
05.30.2008 5:45 PM PDT

So the posts were almost exactly within a 24 hour time period.

I put the names into an ascii to decimal converter looking for anything interesting. All of the users actually have different names, maybe someone has a better eye for patterns than me.

In your order of posting:
73 73 73 73 73 73 73
73 73 73 73 108 108 108
108 108 108 108 108 108 108
73 73 73 73 73 73 108
108 108 108 108 108 108 73
73 73 73 108 108 108 108

Note:
73 = Capital 'I'
104 = Lower case 'l'

Very nice.

Coco didn't post them in order of member number, though. It might yield something different. Here it is in order of member number (4742702, 4742715, 4742721, 4742730, 4742737 <-- this one is the one with the posts, his ascii value is 73 73 73 73 108 108 108, 4742747).

(Here is the string, for future reference: IIIIIII IIIIIIl lllllll IIIllll IIIIlll llllllI) Notice how each Superintendent has 7 letters.

73 73 73 73 73 73 73
73 73 73 73 73 73 108
108 108 108 108 108 108 108
73 73 73 108 108 108 108
73 73 73 73 108 108 108
108 108 108 108 108 108 73

For the sake of thoroughness, I'll also posts the binary value and equivalent hex values (adding the spaces in the string like I did above adds 0001 to the end of each row - these values are without the spaces in the string).

There's not going to be any binary code there, the blocks aren't indicative of 6 or 8 bit ASCII (the code points are either too high or low enough but only hit a few letters.)

I can't edit my other post anymore, and I wanted to add the 7th Superintendent to it. He's the one with the webmaster avatar and not one that resembles the others. I'm going to mirror the second half of my above post to include the 7th Superintendent. I'm not sure why I didn't before, but here it is.

In order of member number (4742702, 4742715, 4742721, 4742730, 4742737 <-- this one is the one with the posts, his ascii value is 73 73 73 73 108 108 108, 4742747, and the 7th 4742753).

If there is a code, it's not ASCII.

So... what? You mean there is absolutely no reason for the names to alternate between capital i's and lower case L's?

The more I think about it, the more it seems like something else is going on. All the Superintendents were created a week ago on the 21st. They were all last active on the 29th, except the one who spent the 29th-30th making three posts... or maybe I'm just reading into this way too much. Either way, I don't think they are just simply bot mods. Everything I posted is just a bunch of shit to use as reference.

The easiest reason why they do that? To make all of the seven mods appear to be the same profile. They can use the different ones to display different feelings relative to the moderation.

The thing is that there was no population spike that gives rise to a need of seven new mods, and they don't need to have different emotions for each post moderated. That's just silly.

I can say for sure that they are not simply moderators. It may just be a way to hype the upcoming map "Smuggler" or it could be the beginning of a new ARG for their next project. Or something in between. But I can tell you for sure that it's not just "new moderators."

By the way, that's good stuff on that last page, Self.

The speculation is that each profile will post on B.net according to its facial expression. Like, the neutral profile has posted sort of neutral stuff so far, and the angry profile will post angry stuff and so forth.

Did they take into account the fact that the only one who has posted so far doesn't make any sense?
