Can't wait for release... Hopefully the limited planet selection does not hurt the game too badly.

Had an absolute blast with the beta, especially in Pod Drop.

Who has decided to NOT get this game?

Considering canceling preorder. Was fun for 3 hours, then it became very repetitive. That's a huge problem with multiplayer only games. There was just nothing dynamic about the encounters. Each round played out exactly the same, every time.

Man, this post made me feel so shitty. I really didn't mean to kick your sandcastle or anything, and I perhaps seemed overly negative.

Battlefront is an interesting game that has a lot of interesting things going for it, or appears that it does. The beta, however, left me a bit cautious. Yes, I agree Hoth became extremely repetitive (Same hill battle, same trench battle, etc.) People were able to become fairly regimented given that it's the only major map in the beta, and they're playing it 24/7. That said however I was pretty off put by hearing the number of maps in the game (12 total, only on 4 planets) and that's a big turn off.

Here are the things I didn't like about the beta, in bulleted format:

  • Vehicles.
    • That they can only hold one person.
    • That they're random.
    • That most of them control like shit.
      • Spaceships are too fast and wonky.
      • The cursor speed is way too fast and delicate.
      • The land vehicles are excessively slow (AT-ST in particular.)
  • Map design.
    • Hoth is way too linear.
    • The base is too small, and should be the focal point of more combat.
    • I think the best part of the map is the last part when you're in the trenches.
      • This is fun, and for me the most reminiscent of the movies. But it is really flawed, it's way too open, the trenches provide little-to-no cover. Which is made extra obvious because Blaze averages like 30+ kills on a turret off to the side that effectively acts as an explosive sniper that can see into the trenches.
  • Hero pickup.
    • This one is weird to me. I don't think the way previous Battlefronts did this was correct either (giving it to the best player) but I'd be lying if I wasn't a bit turned off by the fact that it's now super random and can really effect your team if you get a player who doesn't know what they're doing effectively throwing the hero powerup away.
  • No class system.
    • While I admire what they're trying to do by making all the assault classes a mix in match of what you want (sniper, jet trooper, etc.). I think this game would be better served by a full on class system.
    • In a similar vein, power ups like the shield should be class specific. Not random.

In brief? The game is complicated. I don't care if it doesn't have a single player if the multiplayer justifies its worth. I will keep my eye on the game, but I'm far less optimistic than I was before.

Edit: Also, this game's season pass is $50.

Really disliked the Sollust level and gametype. Spawning behind camping enemies all the time was not fun. Muddy shit everywhere.

I probably won't get it because I'm terribly into online shooters anymore (at least not these samey Battlefield/CoD types of shooters), I'm also short on cash and decided my video game mons for November will be going towards the Bloodborne DLC, and I don't trust an EA game on launch day in the slightest.

The game is also releasing after every other big Fall release. I want Fallout 4, and that's a week earlier. If SWBF wasn't releasing until December, I'd be all over it.

Speaking of things I'm wary about. I'll be buying Fallout 4 but I have no idea what system to buy it on. If anyone remembers Skyrim on PS3 that thing was a fucking nightmare.

Given that the PS4 and Xbox One are opposites of their last gen. counterparts, it might be a safe bet to say the PS4 version will be good. But I'm still unsure.

It was due to the PS3 architecture. An oversight they've fixed on PS4. No way the same issues persist.

I've cancelled my preorder.

Basically, I had to ask myself this question: If this wasn't Star Wars, would I still play it?  I would absolutely not.

The randomness of the pickups really turned me off.

Just so everyone knows, I will be unable to play this on PS4 for a little while. (Not that anyone was expecting otherwise, but I don't want to set any false expectations.)

So what's wrong with this game.

The beta got super repetitive, because the map (Hoth) had zero variety.  It was just a giant open space, except for the middle part.

Ok, so that's one map. Why are you not getting the game?

Lack of content is the impression I get from the majority of people whom say they won't purchase the game.

Damn, that's a shame. How many maps come with the game? Multiplayer only games should have like 25 maps at launch.

4 planets, 12 maps. Two free DLC maps at some point.

What multiplayer-only games have launched in the last couple of years with that many maps? I'm genuinely curious.
