Why is Franky constantly biting his lip and acting so protective? Not to say that's the way he spoke, and I know it's his job to be quiet, but he looked nervous throughout that entire vid.

To me he came off as exhausted, not really nervous. It looked like that was interview number 385 of the day.

I was in Barnes and Noble recently with my wife with the purpose of picking up the HGN. Luckily the employee was nice enough to let me remove the plastic sheath to check it out. I have to admit that I was unimpressed. The book was physically smaller than I expected and also had less content. I felt kinda "meh" about some of the artwork (especially from Moebius [sp?]). For $25 I couldn't bring myself to buy it (a halo fanboy mind you). I'd rather take my wife out to dinner or something for that price. If it was $10 or $15 I probably would have. But $25? C'mon. Maybe I'm just out of the loop but that seems like a rip to me. Some stuff in the gallery was great though and like Voc, I think that would have been my favorite part. I'm not a big fan of Lorraine McClees's covert art for the novels but I loved her 2-page comicish image in the gallery. I hope she illustrates more in the next Halo comic. ***SPOILER BELOW*** Is it just me or is the whole female Spartan thing a bit lame (not just in the HGN)?

Word. Another individual who felt the same way I did about the novel. I'm not sure if you have any understanding of design and composition, Valor, but I wasn't heavily impressed by the previews I've seen. I didn't even care to DL the torrent scans. Good for the fans, but I said to myself I didn't need it.

Well, I'm one of the people that bought the HGN. And I've got to admit that I read it once then never picked it up again. It's funny that you say you didn't like the Moebius one because that's actually my favourite of all of the comics. Mainly because I just like the mentions of ONI, which is probably one of my favourite parts about the Halo universe. There's so little said about the organisation but it seems like they're always working in the background. For instance, I remember reading about a Spartan 3 project in First Strike (I think), when Cortana accessed some classified ONI files (possibly a link with that weird look Spartan shown on the Onyx front cover?) and then there was nothing else said about it but it leaves you wanting more information. My least favourite one is probably the first comic, it just doesn't show much (important) storyline at all and I didn't really like the art style, especially the artists take on the flood (which looked nothing like the ingame flood).

Actually it was Moebius's artwork that I didn't care for. I didn't get a chance to read the stories. Though I would like to eventually. I might get a cheap copy of HGN on Ebay or something. I dunno. I'm not in any hurry.

I think it was talking about Section 3.

For those of you who don't want to spend $25, you can get it on amazon for $15. Well worth it.

I just bought it; it should be here in a day or so. I'm pretty stoked. Blaze (or anyone else that knows), can you give me a link to that website that is like a big Halo encylopedia? I think you've linked to it before, but I can't find it.

After waiting at the door all morning, my HGN finally came. I just flipped through it, so I'm not prepared to offer a review of the stories, but the art is kinda cool. I have to agree with Ivan that the stuff in the back is the coolest. We're going to have to get together in a Halo 2 lobby and discuss the stuff in the back. I remember Ivan and Voc already had this convo when they got their novels, but I didn't know what you were talking about, so I need some theories as to what/where everything is.

PS the girl spartan is way too small/feminine looking. I'm pretty sure a girl spartan would at least be bigger than me. I'm pretty sure an average sized woman would not be able to be a Spartan.

She should look at least this big, but with like a shaved head.

10:30 Mountain Time indeed, eh, Van? No Pants Time indeed, eh? That pic from your secret stash? Sarge's escape from the Flood is by far the best. So much so that the rest seem uninspired and uneducated by comparison. And the Sarge story doesn't even have dialog. Doesn't need it with badass motherfuckin' pictures like that.

More down-to-Earth? Yes. Attractive? No. Sex will sell. Make your women look hot or you're out of business.

I read the Infinite Succor and the Armor Testing story.

Is the Supreme Commander (the guy dressed in purple cape and hat) the Arbiter?

I didn't really like the way the flood looked in the Infinite Succor story; I would have never known that was the flood without the dialog. The story was decent, but I kind of wanted a story that was about the MC, and did anyone else find it mildly odd when the Spec Ops commader bodyslammed the prophet guy?

The armor testing story was short, and I liked the art aight. The story seemed kind of out of sync with the Halo universe. Like the fact that the chick spartan would never be able to retire to start a family. The military would so own her ass; plus you'd think some of the things they did to the Spartans (cybernetic enhancements, steroids, etc) would basically remove the ability to procreate. Not to mention the fact that she would have been raised by the military her whole life, basically brainwashed to the point that I can't imagine a Spartan wanting to live a civilian life (the Spartans sense of duty and their need to be in combat to feel comfortable is a major theme in the books).

I guess that's the fantasy of the whole thing kicking in. Hah. I can't imagine anyone getting kicks fantasizing about hot Spartan soldier women.
