I've had my Macbook Pro since last Christmas, and just recently the charger stopped working. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so how I could fix it, short of buying a whole new one...

read that, and if it doesn't work, do what it says at the bottom about signing up for the genius bar. My girlfriend got a new adapter for free because apparently it just broke.

So basically just take it to my local store and hope for a free replacement?

unfortunately theres not much you can do. Due to the way macs are i guess, there werent any guides on taking apart and checking the macbook or the charger (not that i had the know how to disassemble and reassemble a charger anyway) when my girlfriends broke. You can try looking now though, maybe someone has a guide now. but i can bet apple wont sell the parts and im not knowledgable enough to suggest replacements. :P

You'll only get a free replacement if you're covered under Apple Care, which you had the option to buy when you purchased your MacBook Pro. If there's nothing the Genius Bar can do to get it working and you're not insured you'll have to fork over the $70 or so it costs for a new charger.

Ha, $70 for a charger, that's awesome. I love Apple sometimes, they're freaking insane...

First case I've heard of where this happened then. Might as well give it a shot.

I've had my Pro for about four years. My power supply "broke" a while back, but then I discovered that if I wiggle and twist it right where it connects to the computer, it magically starts working. It doesn't look like it's not connecting, but I guess that's what's happening.
