I didn't know where else to put this, because the Beta thread is locked, so here you go. Awesome stuff. =)

Thanks for the detective workery - I've been a little absent from GAF the last few days and I definitely need to check up on it. The private party system was somewhat of a given because it's a staple of matchmaking and matchmaking is what the beta will be all about. If they're planning on having any team-based multiplayer, this would be a prerequisite automatically and they are. There'll be Team Slayer, Skirmish, and BTB among other things. Now the real question was about being able to create custom games. Frank put the kibosh on that, despite the fact that the internal alpha had a week or so, toward the end, where the players were able to utilize the Custom Games option. We probably won't get that lucky, but our version of Matchmaking may have a special feature so that it simulates custom games without giving players the actual feature...meaning you can play with your friends and not with any strangers. This can already be done, somewhat, by gaining a party that equals the total amount of players needed for a specific unranked hopper and entering (i.e. Team Training is 4v4, so if you have eight players, matchmaking will create a room for eight and all of your friends will come in tow - matchmaking dictates the gametype and map).

This is true. However, with the "veto" button, as a clan, we will have a lot more control over our matchmaking experience. This will make it feel even more like "customs."

Speaking of clans, do you guys have one on XBL? I've been stuck in this old one that never does anything, and it's pretty pointless. =(

Awkward moment...

This is the thing. We do have a clan, but it's pretty much exclusive to the founding members (Voc, Blaze, Cuse, me, mattacus, etc.) and a few others who joined up when this place was still pretty young, and as of right now I don't think we're planning on making it any larger. However, it's the intelligent community element here that makes Ascendant Justice/H3DA tick, so don't feel left out.

Man, this brings back memories of that old EZboard we had back in the day...

Yeah, but that'd make too much sense, wouldn't it?

Play with us often and during the beta. We're not always adding people, but we've done it from time to time in the past. Since the clan is for playing, you need to play often and play fair.

Well, can't say much about the fair part
Spoiler
, but I can guarantee that I'll be on everyday for at least five or six hours.

I've got a wife, but she happens to be taking a business trip for almost the entire time that the Beta is in session. =)

I've got Finals during the first two weeks of the Beta, but that third week will be heaven on Earth. One question though, when you play the Beta, does it show up as PLAYING CRACKDOWN for everyone else who has you on their friends list?

Nope. Crackdown gets you access to the download in Marketplace, that is all. You'll appear as playing "Halo 3 Beta" or something to that effect.

One thing I'm not clear on--will 2-4 people be able to play using the same console on splitscreen?

Split screen is confirmed, but the number of people it will allow isn't. I'd guess two.
