These are probably the best looking maps I've ever seen. I hope they play as well as they look, my instinct tells me that Tempest will be excellent but maybe it's just that it reminds me of Valhalla.

Is it just me, or is 800 MS points starting to feel a bit extortionate for 3 maps? Especially since the game practically only just came out.

Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. Modern Warfare released 3 new maps and 2 remakes for 1200 points ($15), which I'd say is even worse.

Hopefully these maps play as good as they look. More big maps is a very good thing as the current line-up is dreadful, and Anchor 9 looks like it actually makes use of its outer space area for something other than camping (looking at you, Zealot). November 30 is a ways out though...

Maybe Breakpoint will actually be a good Invasion map...

Hell yeah. To my mind, the reason why this particular campaign is so polished is that they opted not to waste man-hours on multiplayer-specific maps. It was a great decision on their part, in my opinion, and I'm willing to deal with mediocre maps for a few months for such a great single player experience, but I was hopeful that Bungie would be making moves on the map front as soon as possible. Voila. I will be holding these maps to a very high standard, however - I'm hoping Bungie knocks these out of the park. Also, best looking map pack ever. Holy flippin balls can't wait to fall to my death in Anchor 9's skybox (Long Night Of Solace). EDIT: But Bungie, for the love of god, can I plz has more Sanctuary in the meantime? It comes up way too infrequently in Matchmaking (and I haven't seen it once in the Arena yet this month).

BTB and Invasion needed more maps fast, glad to see Bungie address this obvious need. Anchor 9 looks bland as hell though except that sexy skybox.

Yeah. Well, now that they've got two space maps, one from each faction, maybe there's hope for a space combat invasion map?

Eh? Eh?

Wondering fictionally how Breakpoint fits into the Forerunners on Reach theme... looks cool, I love the design. Can't wait to play on them. And yeah, Tempest does look absolutely awesome. Seems to be located in an area similar to Forge World...

none of the mp maps have ever really been canon before anyway :D although cold storage may be the most canon one since it had that back story and stuff. Only when they were copies of single player spaces did they become canon. Still these look awesome

800 points/3 maps ≈ 267 points/map

1200 points/5 maps = 240 points/map

I think for MW2, the price was meant to be similar to Halo, then round it so it's not something stupid like 1335 points. But a lot of gamers felt cheated because those two were pretty much copy/paste from MW1. I find this kinda funny, because several H2 and H3 maps packs had remakes and the players were begging for copy/paste maps.

Why does Tempest use the same palette as Forge World? For a map that's supposed to be used for Forge as well, shouldn't at least look a little different?

Are we looking at the same screens?

These? They look like the Forge World palette with less grass.

Not even the Forerunner architecture is the same. I don't see a single recycled texture and the lighting is phenomenal - the map is brighter overall and the shadowed areas are more distinct. I'm not sure what else you could want from a Forerunner-themed map (sans it being in the snow, which we kind of get with Breakpoint).

Sure they could've gone with a boring human theme or an overdone Covenant one, but personally Forerunner stuff is my favorite.

Are we talking aesthetics or gameplay? Gameplay-wise, I think it looks like it has some potential --- looks to me like it's a relatively small, symmetrical map with a few moderate changes in elevation (likely in the same class as Warlock, Midship, and Sanctuary). Bomb, CTF, 3 Plots, Headhunter, Slayer. Yes please.
