Dude, you need to go do the old Switcheroo. I wouldn't be without a 360 for that long and pay for something I just bought.

Tucker, I'm not positive on this, but I think Microsoft is actually giving leaway to those with defective 360s. I've heard cases of free, or at least discounted repair costs. I'd complain, without being too middle-aged American bitchy about it. Valor, I bought my 360 a few months after release and I've had no problems. It froze once, but that was due to the game design (Dead Rising). Keep the thing cool and you won't have issues.

Well no gaming for me for a while. I was just playing Call Of Duty 2 and it froze on me twice. Turned it off and the disc tray wouldn?t open at first. Finally got it open and have the ring of death.

Edit: I just took off the hard drive and put it back on. It's working so far... and it just froze in the NHL 07 demo.

O, brother. I'm really dissapointed with the 360's reliability. Even in this forum alone there is a small handful of guys with serious problems. It's not like you guys are complete idiots that never played a console before. You guys are early adopters though. I'm hoping that having waited a year (might get one in Oct.-Nov.) they've got more bugs ironed out.

My 360 is on its way to Texas for repair. Started freezing up on various games. Bastards. At least its free to send in, but its still a bitch. How many malfunctioning units is that for the F48? 3? 4?

Mine is a few months away from death. When it gets a little warm, it starts skipping while reading dvds - not like normal skipping, but that really annoying skipping that only the 360 can do: the skip accompanied by a -beep- and an intrusive pop-up announcement on the bottom of the screen.

As Drink would say: Weaksauce.

Who wants to get the pitchforks and torches to storm the MS Redmond offices for an explanation?

I live about an hour away. I'll meet you guys there, I can bring extra pitchforks and maybe some punch and riot snacks.

Say around 4pm Pacific?

Here is a map, see you there!

Well I can barely keep the thing on in the dashboard. Friday I'm going out to buy a memory card, and seeing if I can keep some game saves. After that I'm taking the console to Game Crazy to exchange it for a new one. That?s if they have some there for me.

I think you're fine, Valor. You have nothing to fear. These kids bought a 360 early to release. Once I actually had funds to make the purchase, I held back to see what problems had come and gone. The worst of it is out of the way. I bought mine (I think) about 3-4 months after launch, and the only real problems I've had are lockups when going to the dashboard after playing a game. I think even Blaze who was an early buyer said he had the same problem, but it was nothing lethal. The season for gaming is great too. Fall and Winter keeps the 360 plenty cool.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Most of the people in this forum play video games quite a bit more than the normal gamer...some of you guys keep that puppy on forever at a time. I have yet to have any problems with mine (knock on wood), save for one where it froze while I was away and there was some artifacting. That was several months ago, and no problem since. It plays DVDs and video games with perfection.

If mine were to break, I'd simply go to Best Buy, buy another, switch the HDD and return it the next day. If they'd ask, I'd just tell them that it wasn't working and I couldn't wait to play...since Best Buy isn't open at midnight, I was forced to buy one at the 24-hour Walmart down the street to replace it. I've done it with plenty of other electronic devices with far less explanation. I've never seen them care. Microsoft is going to take my broken Xbox 360..."fix" it and then give it to people who file for warranty exchange, claiming that it's brand new.

I've always been a fan of refurbs. They're cheaper and you know they work.

Why aren't you just keeping the Hard Drive? All your gamesaves along with settings and marketplace content are on the Hard Drive so to me keeping that is the most important thing. I would have no problem just going to Best Buy and swapping out the actual 360 unit for a new one, no one even keeps track of the serial numbers on those things.
