But it kind of blows my mind that for a game that is based on a cover system, it took them this long to implement destructible cover.

Well, they did have some destructive cover in Gears of War (sofas and stuff), but not completely destructive environments like what they demonstrated in the presentation. Its looking really awesome - I wonder how much we'd be able to alter multiplayer games just by adding a few holes in walls and creating new pathways.

It would be absolutely amazing if we can really fight hundreds of locust at a time. On Gridlock. Using a single lancer.

Also, it'd be pretty cool if the cube of meat would be included as an easter egg in the final game :D

Here's the GDC Tech Demo Presentation. If Gears 2 has all the stuff in there then holy shit.

That is absolutely mindblowing. If even just half of that stuff is implemented in the final game, oh man. I don't know what I'd do. Just, wow.

Not trying to get ahead of myself here, but this will be what I look like the first time I chainsaw someone in Gears of War 2.

Wow. I wonder if those numbers could be pulled off in the actual game. That's a lot of guys.

Gears 2 will be released a year after Halo 3, so... we can expect it to be more powerful. It'd be embarassing if it wasn't.

But honestly, I really thought that we would have that many numbers in Halo 3. At least with Grunts. But the game was still plenty epic without it. : )

Sure they can, if you don't want the characters to have any worthwhile combat AI or any more animations available than "run." Watch how those guys in the bottom handle the car in their path, then tell me whether you really think that's a valid question.

Yeah, I see what you're talking about now.

I think the crowds of Locusts could only be used effectively in cut-scenes, or if Marcus and the gang are observing the mobilization of an army from a distance. Having hundreds of them utilize the AI of a small pack would make our 360s catch fire.

What's not to love about Cliffy B?

Except for the fact I apparently paid $60 for an appetizer...

Just like in that extra content that SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED ON THE '360. I'm still pissed about that.

Gears 2 footage on May 9th.

http://kotaku.com/38...tage-hits-may-9

Jonesing for your first taste of Gears of War 2 gameplay footage? Fortunately you don't have too long to wait.

Gametrailers TV just secured themselves the first in-game footage from the game. The bad news? It won't be airing until May 9 at 1 a.m. The good news? The footage, which features Marcus Fenix, includes a special introduction by bunny-loving Epic game designer Cliff Bleszinski.

I'm a big Gears Fan, but is it just me, or does Cliffy-B always come off as an intolerable dick?

I was thinking more along the lines of a cocky cock-faced prick.
