JP, consider this...

Blaze on the Internet just said you "might be" a tad overzealous regarding something.

Step back, son.

I, for one, would NEVER get heated while discussing a videogame on the internet.

Psh, McDuff.

As for the last of us MP, it's ok. I don't hate it like Dual, nor love it like Phreak. Probably plays a lot better with a team that communicates. I look forward to playing with some of my PS4 bretheren if/when they pick the game up.

Phreak,

No hard feelings. I actually gave it another shot last night with a buddy at work, and...

It was good. Like waay more fun than before. We didn't lose a single game, I had a blast. I dunno if it was a lack of communication before, lag (he's in Korea), or being partially non-sober, but everything just worked.

I'm not saying Gamble fixed this thread... but Gamble fixed this thread. Everybody love everybody.

It makes me happy to know that Gamble still reads our shitposting, even today.

Is it weird that I'm not totally enthralled with the story of this game? The atmosphere is great, Ellie and Joel are written/acted damn near to perfection, and it's gorgeous to look at, but the actual story just hasn't been that engaging to me so far. This might have something to do with my ho-hum attitude towards all zombie games, which when you get down to it is what the game actually is. And yeah, I'm also considering the whole "it's not just surviving dangerous zombies, it's surviving amongst even more dangerous fellow humans" theme. It's still a goddamn zombie apocalypse game. I've only made it to Pittsburgh so maybe it'll start bringing the heat soon, but I'm waiting for the obligatory enemy-steals-child-companion-protagonist-has-grown-to-love-and-goes-on-a-killing-spree-to-get-her-back sequence to show up eventually.

I guarantee some of this is because I waited a year to play TLOU and saw the 2 bazillion GOTY awards it got, raising my expectations to the moon for how good it should be. It's still a very fun and well crafted game, but right now I'm not seeing what the fuss was about.

I believe it has garnered a lot of hype because of how well the characters are written, with their dialogue and interactions with others. It doesn't just feel like another videogame. That's a lot of the reason why I also love ND's Uncharted series because they also have a lot of those same strong elements.

In spite of Dr. Kinetic's tepid review, I took the plunge for The Last of Us and it's downloading now - Naughty Dog's exclusives were always the ones I was most jealous of on PS3. Coincidentally, I'm about a third of the way through The Road which apparently shares a lot of narrative similarities.

If I ever get out of the Army and get a job that pays a decent wage, my first purchase will be a console that plays this game. The second purchase will be this game.

Put 8 hours in this weekend. God damn. I'll save my gushing for a review when I've actually finished the game, but... god damn.

Awww yeah. Working my way (slowly) through Grounded mode currently.

It can get... pretty rough, at times.

I downloaded this over the weekend when I preordered Destiny.

The game is fun, no doubt about it.

Lots of inane trophies, tho.

I like this game, but I am only able to play it for 20-30 minute spurts. Weird.

I can see that.  It is very intense.  I do like how the game seems to be broken up into "encounters."  And they don't always follow the same script.

That's how I am too.

I play until I want to bust my TV, then take a break for a day or two.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Stalled out on this game during the 2014 run (had a bunch of deadlines at work and just never went back). Restarted a few weeks ago and finally beat it last Friday. Wow. What an incredible game. Just wow.

So glad I joined the PS4 team for this generation - the last two games I've gotten a chance to play are Journey and TLoU - what a fucking one-two punch.
