  • 60 fps
  • 40 players
  • First and third-person
  • Two player splitscreen
  • You can play as iconic Star Wars characters like Dork Vader and Bob Fetta
  • ~30 years before the events in The Force Awakens
  • Also, there are apparently no space battles
If you're wondering how the game will look as good as those screenshots and trailer while running at 60 fps on a console, the answer is it won't. Sorry.

Yeah...

This game has already set itself up for some pretty significant backlash with that trailer...

Game definitely wont look like that. Still hopeful it's fun though. I'm okay with no space battles, though they will be missed.

I'll be there probably day one. Especially with the impending Star Wars hype.

I think this is a more accurate representation.

I kind of lost track of SW around 1986. I was more into TransFormers around that time.

In 1993, after my parents had gotten divorced and I was a 15 year old kid whose mother had rediscovered the magic of bars and alcohol, I went rummaging through our VHS collection of recorded shit. I found old recorded off the satellite copies of Empire and Jedi. So, every single day I would come home, do homework, then my mom would leave my little sister and I alone while she went to get drunk. Until I went to live with my dad, Chewie was my babysitter. I watched at least one of those movies every day for the next year.

No other way to put it, really.

I begged and begged for a copy of Star Wars from anyone who would listen. This is before Internet, before DVD (SW was famously not released on DVD for years, any way). To buy a VHS tape that wasn't widely distributed cost $100.

I finally got my hands on a hand me down copy when I went to live with my dad.

So, yeah, sorry for the confessional, but SW got me through the roughest part of my childhood. It's why I had such an emotional reaction to seeing and hearing Han Solo.

That video Om Nom linked brought back a ton of memories.

PSA: Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 for Gamecube are now playable on the Dolphin emulator, if you want some SW gaming before this SWBF hits.

I really hope they don't mess this game up. Battlefield 4 was a pretty big fuck up by itself, but if they screw this up I'm sure they'll have an entire other set of fans to worry about this time around.

I've never been the biggest Star Wars fan, but this game and Star Wars 7 has really peaked my interest. Made an entire day out of watching the original trilogy with a friend of mine that's pretty big into this series on the Sunday right before May the 4th.

Battlefield 4 is actually great now... it just took two years to fix all of the problems.

Let's hope that Battlefront does not befall a similar fate.

Preordered for PS4, and they dropped the price to $50
a month or so ago, so I'll be holding that.
